The governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) for the 2027 Lagos State election, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, has announced the passing of his mother, Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour.
Rhodes-Vivour disclosed the sad news in a statement shared on his official X account on Monday.
The statement, issued on behalf of the family by Olawale Rhodes-Vivour, described the late Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour (née Waboso) as a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, and a woman whose life was defined by love and compassion.
“With sadness in our hearts and gratitude to God for a life well spent, we announce the call to glory of Nkechi Stella Rhodes-Vivour (née Waboso). A loving wife, devoted mother and grandmother. The epitome of love,” the statement read.
The family expressed deep sorrow over her passing and prayed for the peaceful repose of her soul.
“She will be sorely missed. May her beautiful soul rest in perfect peace,” the statement added.
The family also announced that details of her funeral arrangements would be made public in due course.
Rhodes-Vivour was the Labour Party’s governorship candidate in the 2023 Lagos State election. He later joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and secured the party’s ticket for the 2027 governorship election after emerging as its candidate in May 2026.
