Nollywood actress Mo Bimpe has opened up about a painful chapter in her life when she was deliberately excluded from events involving children simply because she had none of her own.
The actress shared her story in an emotional Instagram post directed at women currently trying to conceive, revealing that she once stopped getting invited to baby showers, naming ceremonies, children’s birthday parties, and other kid-related celebrations.
She said she later found out that some of the people involved had intentionally left her out because she didn’t have a child at the time — a discovery that left her deeply hurt, especially given how much she loved children and wanted to be part of the joy around her.
Bimpe explained that the exclusion came from a mix of people, including some she was personally close to — friends, colleagues, and people she genuinely cared about — which made the experience even harder to process.
She recalled that the realization only came after the fact, and admitted she had spent a long time wondering what she had done to deserve being shut out.
According to her, the pain wasn’t about wanting sympathy. It stemmed from her love for children and her desire to share in other people’s happiness, at a time when she herself was quietly dealing with the emotional weight of trying to conceive — the waiting, the questions, the hurtful comments, and the silent prayers that come with it.
Bimpe used the moment to appeal to others, urging people not to compound the struggles of women trying to conceive by cutting them off from celebrations. She stressed that a woman without a child is no less worthy of love, friendship, inclusion, or celebration, adding that people rarely know the burdens others carry behind a smile.
