Embattled People’s Democratic Party PDP, National Chairman Prince Uche Secondus is currently in the eye of the storm. He has come under fire over the recent massive defection of party members to the ruling All Progressive Congress APC. The massive defection is seriously taking its toll on the party structure as some top political heavyweight within his local government has dragged him to court to enhance his suspension as the party’s chairman to enable the party to restructure and also let a more capable hand take over to take the party to the next level.
In a bid to salvage his office through the court; all means to save his job has proved abortive as a High Court sitting in Port Harcourt, Rivers State has upheld his sacking as National Chairman of PDP. Justice Okugbelem Gbasam delivered the judgment, reiterating and reaffirming his stand on Secondus’ suspension by Ward 5 in Andoni local government area of the State as brought forward by Ibeawuchi Ernest Alex and four others against Secondus and the PDP.
Justice Gbasam further granted the prayers of the aggrieved PDP members to retrain, suspend, Uche Secondus from attending, conveying PDP meetings in his capacity as National chairman or member of the party. However, counsel to Uche Secondus expressed dissatisfaction against Justice Gbasam’s ruling, saying on behalf of his client he would appeal the judgement.
