President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has directed the Armed Forces, Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services (DSS) and other relevant security agencies to commence an immediate and coordinated operation to rescue victims of the recent mass abduction in Niger State.
The President issued the directive following reports of the abduction and killing of innocent residents by criminal elements in the state.
In a statement released on Tuesday by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, Tinubu condemned the attack and described those responsible as enemies of peace and humanity.
The President also expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives during the incident, assuring them that the Federal Government would continue to support efforts to rescue those still in captivity.
Tinubu said the government would not relent until all abducted persons are safely reunited with their families.
He further directed the Service Chiefs to provide him with regular updates on the progress of the rescue operation until every victim is accounted for.
The President assured residents of Niger State that his administration would take all necessary measures to strengthen security and protect communities from further attacks.
“Terror will not cow Nigeria. We will defend our people, protect our communities, and uphold the sanctity of human life,” the President stated.
Tinubu also pledged the full support of the Federal Government to the Niger State Government, particularly in the areas of rescue operations, relief efforts and security reinforcement.
He urged Nigerians affected by the incident to remain hopeful, stressing that security agencies had been mobilised to ensure the safe recovery of the abducted victims and bring those responsible for the attack to justice.
