The remains of veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, popularly known as Ogogo, have arrived in his hometown of Ilaro, Ogun State, as burial preparations got underway.
Hassan, who died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at the age of 66, was received in Ilaro by grieving family members, friends, colleagues and residents ahead of his final rites.
Veteran actors Yinka Quadri and Jide Kosoko were among those who arrived in the town to join the family in mourning. Actress Ireti Osayemi also arrived for the burial, with footage of her arrival trending on social media.
The actor’s death came just days after his daughters, Kira and Lima Taiwo, made a public appeal for urgent assistance as his health worsened. The family had revealed that Hassan was battling stage-four cancer and needed urgent medical attention, adding that doctors had ruled out further chemotherapy due to the advanced state of his condition.
According to the burial programme, Hassan’s remains were conveyed to Ilaro for the final rites, with a lying-in-state ceremony held at the Pavilion in Ilaro on Monday ahead of his interment.
