Edo State Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo has nominated businessman and politician Martin Anayochukwu Oli as commissioner-designate, in a move the state government says reflects its commitment to inclusive governance.
The nomination was announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, on Wednesday. Oli’s name will be forwarded to the Edo State House of Assembly for screening and confirmation before he can be sworn in.
Oli, who hails from Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State, is described by the state government as an accomplished businessman and politician with a strong record of community service and grassroots development. He is also recognised as a prominent leader of the Igbo community in Edo State.
The government said Oli has contributed significantly to social and economic development initiatives and demonstrated consistent leadership in the private sector through his business and political engagements.
In announcing the nomination, the Okpebholo administration said it remains committed to harnessing the expertise of individuals dedicated to Edo State’s development, regardless of ethnic background.
