For Olori Mariam Anako-Ogunwusi, the arrival of her twins has transformed her world into an endless celebration, one where summoning praise singers to chant her oriki to the high heavens and painting the streets red would still not be enough to express her joy. Such is her gratitude that if one were to ride a horse on her tummy right now, it would not fall off, so firm and spacious has her heart and body become after carrying and delivering two healthy baby boys. Her song of praise to her Creator has always been sweet and unique, but now it is also loud and unending, because what she had sought for years was finally given to her in double folds.
Although the twins were named in Canada on the 17th of May, the children will officially be dedicated and taken into the palace of their father, where several traditional rites will take place to formally welcome them into the House of Oduduwa in Ile-Ife. Today, Friday, the 11th of September, the twin Princes will be dedicated amidst pomp and pageantry. The Ife Palace will welcome its twin Princes and witness a surge of visitors in town to felicitate with the Ooni and Olori Mariam.
Last week, Chief Ernest Obiejesi-Azudialu, owner of Nest Oil, hosted the twins and Olori Mariam at his palatial Ikoyi Mansion, where he welcomed his company’s director who had gone on a motherhood hiatus. It was a celebration of love and royalty, as siblings, close family and associates converged for a house party where the twins were formally welcomed by the Obijacksons. There was an array of meals, drinks, and music, as those in attendance confirmed the hospitable nature of Chief Ernest and his wife.
