After delivering an impressive performance as Chief Executive Officer of Ikeja Electric (IKED), she has been called upon to take on a new and expanded challenge within the Sahara Group. Her years of dedication and strategic leadership have now placed her on an even higher pedestal, as the parent company, Sahara Energy, has decided it is time to move her to a fresh frontier where she can once again work her magic.
During her time at Ikeja Electric, a distribution company owned by Sahara Energy, Soetan showcased her exceptional ability to transform operations and drive success. She redefined the company’s approach, making it deeply customer-centric and ensuring that consumers were treated with the utmost priority. She also overhauled communication systems, enabling swift and transparent engagement with customers, while simultaneously scaling up power distribution to make IKED one of the most consistent electricity distribution companies in Nigeria. Her leadership was characterized by a relentless focus on efficiency, accountability, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable value creation, all within a challenging and highly regulated environment.
Soetan’s career spans decades and cuts across multiple sectors, including power, midstream and downstream oil and gas, and aviation, giving her a versatile and robust professional background. Now, just when it seemed she had accomplished all she could at Ikeja Electric, Sahara Energy has decided to entrust her with a new mission. Effective July 1, she will assume the role of Chief Executive Officer at Arahas Global Oilfield Services, where she is expected to replicate her transformative success and build yet another thriving portfolio. Her responsibilities, however, will not be limited to Arahas alone; she will also take on expanded duties within the Sahara Power Group, where she will leverage her extensive power sector experience to enhance operational performance and foster stronger collaboration across the group’s various business units.
This dual role reflects Sahara Group’s broader strategy of creating tighter integration between its upstream and power operations, with the goal of unlocking efficiencies and delivering more sustainable energy solutions across Africa. For Folake Soetan, the work is far from over, and this new chapter promises to be yet another testament to her remarkable ability to lead, transform, and excel.
