The Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide (Winners Chapel), Bishop David Oyedepo, has strongly criticized the Federal Government over the worsening insecurity and economic hardship across Nigeria, urging President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to take urgent and decisive action.
Speaking during a church service, the respected cleric expressed deep concern over the continuous killings, attacks and suffering experienced by Nigerians, warning that the patience of citizens was wearing thin.
Oyedepo accused the Tinubu administration of failing to adequately address the country’s growing security challenges, saying the government appeared to be acting as though it did not fully understand the seriousness of the crisis.
According to him, innocent Nigerians have continued to lose their lives in violent attacks, while many communities remain vulnerable despite repeated calls for stronger security measures.
The bishop condemned those responsible for the killings and attacks on defenseless citizens, insisting that victims and their families should not be expected to sympathize with those perpetrating such crimes.
In a strongly worded statement directed at the nation’s leadership, Oyedepo declared that the President must stop what he described as “pretending” and immediately take concrete steps to restore security and protect lives.
He warned that if the government failed to act, he would pray against those in authority rather than pray for them.
“The president needs to act now and stop pretending. You can’t slaughter members of my family and expect me to pray for you. I will pray against you and your household.
“The government is pretending like they don’t know what to do. I have been quiet for a long time, but the bubble is about to burst,” Oyedepo said.
The cleric further lamented that Nigeria’s security situation had deteriorated to an alarming level, stressing that leaders must demonstrate greater urgency in protecting citizens and restoring public confidence.
His remarks come amid growing concerns over persistent attacks, kidnappings and killings in several parts of the country, with many Nigerians continuing to call on the Federal Government to strengthen security operations and improve the welfare of citizens in the face of rising economic hardship.
