Popular Nigerian streamer and content creator, Habeeb Hamzat, widely known as Peller, has announced plans to host renowned Nigerian writer and Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, on his livestream.
Peller disclosed the proposed collaboration during a livestream on Tuesday, expressing excitement about the opportunity to feature the literary icon. He also promised his audience an entertaining session filled with what he described as “proper English” and “grammar.”
According to the content creator, further details about the planned livestream would be announced at a later date.
“I want to do a stream with Mr. Wole Soyinka. I will announce it soon and tell you guys what the plan is. It will be a proper English day on that day. You will hear some ‘grammar’ that day,” Peller said.
The announcement has attracted attention because of the striking contrast between Peller’s informal, humorous style of content creation and Soyinka’s reputation as one of Africa’s most respected literary figures.
Peller has gained widespread popularity through his livestreams, which frequently feature spontaneous conversations, comedy, celebrity appearances and interactions with fellow content creators. His unconventional presentation style has helped him build a large following, particularly among young Nigerians.
Soyinka, on the other hand, is an internationally acclaimed playwright, poet, novelist and essayist whose contributions to literature have earned him global recognition. In 1986, he became the first African to receive the Nobel Prize in Literature, a historic achievement that cemented his place among the world’s most influential literary figures.
The possibility of bringing both personalities together has generated interest, with many anticipating how Peller’s playful approach to livestreaming would blend with Soyinka’s intellectual depth and command of the English language.
Such a meeting could provide a different experience for Peller’s audience, potentially combining humour, literary discussions and spontaneous exchanges between the two personalities.
However, despite announcing his intention to organise the livestream, Peller did not disclose a specific date or provide details about the format of the proposed session.
It also remains unclear whether Soyinka has accepted the invitation or confirmed his participation.
Further information is expected if Peller proceeds with the plan and announces the details of the anticipated collaboration.
