Nigerian singer Peter Okoye has revealed why he now marks his birthday on November 30 instead of November 18.
Speaking on the Capital XTRA Podcast, the singer said the original date had become a source of pain for him over the last 13 years, describing it as one of the worst days of his life.
Peter attributed this to gossip and tension around the occasion. He alleged that some people would first go to the residence of his twin brother, Paul, to talk about him before coming to celebrate with him.
Although both brothers were born on the same day, Peter said this made the shared birthday increasingly uncomfortable for him.
“I changed my birthday from November 18th to November 30th because for 13 years, it’s been the worst day of my life. People go to Paul’s house to gossip about me before coming to my side. I wish I could change it on my documents and passport,” he said.
His decision comes amid the long-running feud between the twins. The duo, who make up the popular music group P-Square, first split in 2017 and reunited in 2021 before falling out again in 2024.
