Nigerian rapper and content creator Chinedu, popularly known as Triple Pin, has narrated how he and other passengers survived an Enugu Air aircraft that skidded off the runway while attempting to land at the Benin Airport.
In a video posted on his Instagram page shortly after the incident, the rapper said the experience had left him with a changed outlook on life.
He explained that heavy rainfall severely reduced visibility throughout the flight, leaving him uncertain how the pilot intended to navigate the poor weather conditions.
Triple Pin said the pilot appeared to lose control while attempting to land, circling the airport repeatedly before the aircraft veered off course.
He noted that the plane did not catch fire after leaving the runway, which he attributed to the heavy rain at the time.
Recounting the ordeal, he said the flight felt like something out of a movie, something he never imagined he would personally experience. He described the cabin windows as blurred by rain, adding that he found himself questioning how the pilot could continue flying under such conditions.
According to him, on approach to Benin, the pilot repeatedly circled the aircraft while searching for a safe spot to land. He said the repeated maneuvering was what eventually led to the pilot losing control, sending the plane off the runway and into nearby bush.
He recalled the chaos that followed, with passengers screaming in panic as the aircraft came to a stop. He said he believed the absence of fire was solely due to the rain, without which the crash could have ended in tragedy. He confirmed that he walked away from the incident without any injuries.
