Pointing at one of the most powerful figures in the President Buhari’s administration, Former Rivers state governor, now Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi comes to your mind. He is a very strong force you must reckon with in this present Nigerian Government. When he coughs, the whole country catches the vibes and tremble in fear. The Minister of Transportation shares a cordial and filial relationship with President Buhari. He was the then Director General of the Buhari-Osinbajo campaign train in 2014-2015.
A close source to the Buhari’s cabinet divulged to CITYSPY that “Rotimi Amaechi is a strong deciding figure in the presidency. He gets anything he wants with a snap of his finger. He is so strong and influential that he remains untouchable.”
It would be recalled that; Amaechi is not in good term with his successor, the incumbent Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike, because of their political differences.They have constantly had several confrontations. The most recent was the confrontation between their security details in Porthacourt late last year.
Amaechi is a man like god in the Presidency. Many thought he was joking when he vowed not to support former President Goodluck Johnathan in his re-election bid. He switched allegiance to the All Progressive Congress APC, and President Buhari the then APC flag bearer won the 2015 general elections.
The former speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, has vowed not to support the governorship ambition of one of his political allies, Senator Magnus Abe, who represents Rivers South East constituency in the Upper National Assembly.
It would be recalled that; they both joined forces in 2015 to stop the current governor, Nyesom Wike from emerging as the Governor of Rivers state. From the report made available to CITYSPY, it appears that Senator Abe and Amaechi are both at loggerhead. The once sweet relationship between them has gone sour. They no longer see eye to eye. The bad blood between them has taken a new dimension. Despite their party affiliations, they are no longer best of friends. Amaechi has threatened fire and brimstone to stop his political dream of Governing the oil-rich state.
A source present where Amaechi made the declaration with much confidence divulged that; ”Amaechi vowed not to support Abe’s Gubernatorial ambition come 2019. He told elders in Ikwerre that, he will use the vote from their constituency which makes half of the total votes in Rivers State, to frustrate Abe’s Ambition. He said there is no rancor in the All Progressive Congress APC but he will use all measure to make sure Abe loses in his bid to occupy the highly coveted governorship seat.”
