Nigerian singer Skales has declared he will not be casting his vote in the 2027 general elections, citing a complete loss of faith in the country’s current crop of politicians.
The singer made his position known via a post on X, where he voiced frustration over what he described as the absence of credible candidates capable of steering Nigeria toward meaningful progress.
Skales said none of the politicians in the running have demonstrated the sincerity or commitment needed to earn his trust, adding that he sees no aspirant worthy of his vote.
Beyond his personal disillusionment, the musician called for a generational shift in Nigeria’s political leadership, arguing that the country urgently needs younger, visionary leaders with fresh ideas — not career politicians who have cycled in and out of office without results.
“To be honest, none — I won’t be voting for anyone in 2027. I don’t see any good candidate that can take this country to a better place,” he wrote. “I do not believe or trust any of these politicians… we need a fresh set of politicians, visionaries, not recycled ones that have shown time after time that they ain’t got this figured out. We need younger politicians with vision, innovation — not all this we have now.”
