President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 persons to the boards and management of 10 federal government agencies and commissions, with immediate effect.
The appointments were announced in a statement on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, special adviser to the president on information and strategy.
Ayo Fayose, former governor of Ekiti, was named chairman of the board of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA). He will lead the board alongside Ahmadu Abubakar and Ilyasu Makinta, who join as non-executive members. Abba Aliyu, the agency’s director-general, and three previously appointed executive directors complete the board.
Tinubu also named Junaid Bindawa, a retired major general, chairman of the National Salaries, Incomes and Wages Commission (NSIWC), with Olajumoke Okoya-Thomas, a former House of Representatives member, appointed secretary. Other appointees to the commission are Ogbole Lilian (Benue), Oladele Olatubosun (Oyo), Yakubu Barde (Kaduna), Mai Adamu Yau (Borno), Ginika Tor (Enugu), Lawrence Okoh (Edo), and Bello Iyabode (Kogi).
Tosin Adeyanju, previously executive secretary of the National Lottery Trust Fund (NLTF), has been redeployed as secretary of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).
Other appointments include Abuh Mohammed as director-general of the National Population Commission (NPC), Akinola Odeyemi as managing director of Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading (NBET) Plc, and Anthony Godwin as chairman and CEO of the Nigeria Atomic Energy Commission (NAEC).
Julius Oloro was named CEO of the National Centre for Agricultural Mechanisation (NCAM), replacing A.R. Kamal, who died in January.
Tinubu also reconstituted the board of the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC), naming Abdullahi Saidu as chairman. Other board members are Mohammed Asmau, Mohammed Makama, Suleiman Gidado, Louis Ndukwe, Amaechi Ugwele, and Olaniyi Onikola.
Shuni Dahiru was appointed executive secretary of the National Commission for Mass Literacy, Adult and Non-Formal Education (NMEC), replacing Shu’aibu Shehu Aliyu, who was moved to the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF) in April.
The president also appointed Gisaor Iorja, an economist and secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), as executive director (finance) of the Federal Housing Authority (FHA), replacing Mathias Byuan, who resigned to pursue his ambition to run for governor of Benue State.
