President Bola Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to the Iyalode of Remoland, Chief Sade Ogunbiyi, as she marks her 80th birthday on Saturday, June 6, 2026.
Chief Ogunbiyi, wife of renowned academic, journalist, and entrepreneur, Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi, was celebrated in a statement issued on Friday, June 5, 2026, by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
In the statement, Tinubu commended her decades-long contributions to education, banking, administration, and community development, describing her life as one defined by discipline, service, and continuous personal growth.
He noted that Ogunbiyi began her career with a strong academic foundation in English Language and Educational Administration before expanding into teaching and later the financial sector, where she also distinguished herself.
According to the President, she taught English and Social Studies at several institutions, including Our Lady of Apostles Secondary School in Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State; Lane Middle School in Bedford, New York; and the United Nations International School in New York.
Tinubu also highlighted her 10-year tenure at the then University of Ile-Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University), where she served in various administrative and personnel management roles across faculties.
He further noted her banking career at NAL Merchant Bank in Lagos, where she rose to the position of Senior Manager before retiring in 1996 as Human Resources Manager. She later served as Deputy Managing Director at Signal Health Nigeria Limited between 1996 and 2001.
The President praised her ability to balance professional excellence with family life, describing her journey as one marked by resilience, growth, and service to society.
Tinubu also acknowledged her role as Iyalode of Remoland, noting that she succeeded the late Chief HID Awolowo, wife of the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo, a respected Nigerian nationalist and former Premier of the Western Region.
He said her life reflects quiet achievement and dedication, adding that she has remained committed to personal development even while fulfilling family responsibilities and traditional leadership duties.
Tinubu wished her continued good health, strength, and fulfillment as she celebrates the milestone with her family, friends, and well-wishers, praying for many more years of peace and happiness.
