President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved a minor reshuffle of the Federal Executive Council, leading to the exit of two ministers and the appointment of new officials.
In a memo issued by the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and signed by George Akume, the changes affect the ministries of Finance and Housing.
Mr. Wale Edun, who previously served as Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister of the Economy, has been relieved of his duties. He is to hand over to Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, who has now been elevated from Minister of State to assume full responsibility for the finance portfolio.
Similarly, the Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Arc. Ahmed Musa Dangiwa, is to step down. A new nominee, Dr. Muttaqha Rabe Darma, has been named as his replacement, pending formal confirmation.
The directive also instructs Dangiwa to transfer responsibilities to the Minister of State in the ministry until the new appointee assumes office.
All handover processes are expected to be concluded by the close of business on April 23, 2026.
According to Akume, the reshuffle is part of efforts to improve coordination within the government and enhance policy delivery, particularly in line with the administration’s Renewed Hope Agenda.
He noted that the President exercised his constitutional authority under Sections 147 and 148 of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) in making the changes.
The President expressed appreciation to the outgoing ministers for their service and wished them success in their future endeavours, while also assuring that further steps to strengthen governance would continue.
