President Bola Tinubu on Monday swore in Joseph Olasunkanmi Tegbe as Minister of Power and Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye as Minister of State for Foreign Affairs at a ceremony held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, attended by family members of the new ministers, senior government officials, and other guests.
The appointments fill vacancies created when former Minister of Power Adebayo Adelabu and former Minister of Foreign Affairs Yusuf Tuggar resigned to pursue governorship bids in their respective states. Following their departures, Tinubu nominated Tegbe and Enikanolaiye for the roles. The Senate screened and confirmed both nominees on May 6, 2026.
Tegbe, a native of Ibadan, Oyo State, brings over 35 years of experience spanning the public and private sectors, with a background in economic management, public sector reform, policy execution, and strategic planning.
Enikanolaiye, from Igbagun in Kogi State, holds a First Class degree in Political Science from Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, where he graduated as the best student in his faculty, and a Master’s degree in International Law and Diplomacy from the University of Lagos, obtained with distinction. Before this appointment, he served as Senior Special Assistant to the President on Foreign Affairs and International Relations in the Office of the Chief of Staff. His diplomatic postings include Ethiopia, Serbia, Canada, the United Kingdom, and New Delhi, India, where he served as Nigeria’s Head of Mission.
