A US-based clothing company, HercLeon, has launched the HercShirt V5.0, a T-shirt it says can be worn daily for up to 30 days without needing a wash.
HercLeon, previously known for its self-cleaning underwear line, has gone viral again with this latest release, which the company describes as capable of staying odour-free for about a month even without laundering.
The claim has raised eyebrows, particularly given the heat and heavy sweating that come with summer wear, but HercLeon insists the technology behind the shirt is genuine.
To achieve this, the company wove seven special materials directly into the fabric rather than applying them as a surface treatment. These include copper, silver, zinc, gold, volcanic ash, and two ingredients it has kept secret.
Each material reportedly plays a specific role: copper works against odour-causing bacteria, zinc neutralises the sulphur compounds released during heavy sweating, and volcanic ash absorbs both moisture and external smells, functioning like an internal sponge.
According to HercLeon’s Kickstarter campaign, the HercShirt V5.0 remains fresh for over a month under heavy use, and because it needs washing far less often, it is also expected to outlast conventional T-shirts.
The shirt is set to ship in early November and will initially be available only in black. HercLeon has, however, announced plans to introduce navy blue, burgundy, and dark green versions later next year.
For buyers who find the $79 price steep, the company is also offering cheaper alternatives: a $39 budget version that stays fresh for three days of heavy use, and a standard version that lasts up to 14 days without washing.
