As the 2019 general elections beckons, there seems to be tranquility as the coast is clear for Governor Ben Ayade and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) members in Cross Rivers state as their winning chances received a major boost today, when the Governor’s godmother and mentor, Senator Florence Ita-giwa defected back to the PDP from the ruling All Progressive Congress (APC).
Before now, the rift between Senator Ita-giwa and Prof. Ayade started years back when; Senator Florence defected to the ruling APC. Prof. Ayade was not happy with the move. He showed his displeasure, as they were both not in talking terms for years. It took the quick intervention of top party chieftains to savage the situation. Governor Ayade, was said to have sent several people to plead to Senator Ita-giwa on his behalf winning her back to her team.
Governor Ayade and Mama Bakassi as she is fondly called, are now back with their filial relationship, waxing stronger to the chagrin of their detractors. To further seal the new found friendship, Senator Florence at the early hours of today, 24th of October, announced her defection to her former home and party the PDP from the ruling APC.
According to information gathered by CITYSPY, stated that; the defection was to further cement the new found love. Mama Bakassi’s endearing influence in the state can’t be compromised. Her wealth of experience in politics is needed for the further upliftment of the state.
A close source to Senator ITA-GIWA divulged that; ‘Senator Ita-giwa played a pivotal role in Ayade’s first term election. The enemies employed every possible means to seperate them, but, we thank God today, both of them are back in good terms as Crossrivers will be delievered for PDP in the next general election.” ”Senator Itagiwa is back home to where she rightfully belongs, so we strongly appreciate her for the bold step.” The source added.
