About 18 governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) have unanimously passed a vote of confidence in the Chairman of the Progressives Governors’ Forum (PGF), Governor Hope Uzodimma of Imo State.
The governors reaffirmed their commitment to party unity following a closed-door meeting held on Friday in Abuja, where they deliberated on internal party affairs, upcoming primaries, and strategies aimed at strengthening the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections.
They also dismissed reports suggesting any leadership crisis within the forum, insisting that Uzodimma remains the legitimate and recognised chairman of the PGF.
Earlier reports alleging a change in leadership were also rejected by the forum’s Director-General, Folorunso Aluko, who described them as false and misleading.
Speaking after the meeting, Governor Nasir Idris of Kebbi State said the governors were united and firmly behind the leadership of the forum.
“You can see our chairman here and his deputy, Governor Uba Sani. There is no division. I want to move a vote of confidence on our chairman and his deputy,” Idris said.
Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State also reinforced the message of unity, noting that the APC governors remain solidly behind President Bola Tinubu.
“All of us woke up to those unfortunate stories, but the truth is that the APC Progressive Governors’ Forum is more united now than ever. There is no crisis,” he said.
Governor Uzodimma, in his remarks, said the meeting focused on preparations for the APC primaries and strengthening party cohesion.
“We also assessed the performance of the party and the committees set up to oversee the primaries at sub-national levels. We are committed to strengthening unity and supporting President Tinubu for success in 2027,” he said.
He added that the governors had recently supported President Tinubu’s bid for a second term by submitting his expression of interest and nomination forms.
According to him, all APC governors remain committed to delivering good governance, improving welfare, and ensuring economic and social development across their states.
The meeting had in attendance about 18 APC governors, while the party currently has 31 governors nationwide.
