Paris Saint-Germain have secured their place in a second successive UEFA Champions League final, holding off Bayern Munich with a 1-1 draw on Wednesday to advance 6-5 on aggregate.
The defending champions wasted no time asserting themselves, taking the lead as early as the third minute when Ousmane Dembélé converted a cutback from Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to give the French giants the advantage they needed.
Bayern Munich controlled large spells of possession and pressed for a breakthrough, but PSG’s backline stood firm, frustrating the German side and limiting them to few clear-cut chances throughout the contest.
Harry Kane pulled one back deep into stoppage time, but his late equaliser proved nothing more than a consolation arriving far too late to alter the course of the tie or threaten PSG’s place in the final.
Luis Enrique’s side will now face Arsenal in what promises to be a blockbuster showdown, scheduled for May 30 in Budapest — with the Parisians aiming to retain the trophy they claimed last season.
