Lagos lawmaker and Nollywood actor, Desmond Elliot, has tendered an apology to the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, over alleged misunderstandings linked to past political tensions within the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Elliot made the apology during an appearance on TVC’s Your View, where he stated that any friction between them was unintentional and rooted in political misunderstandings.
The development follows earlier remarks by Gbajabiamila, who disclosed that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu once confronted him over intelligence reports suggesting Elliot’s involvement in the Lagos Assembly speakership crisis — allegations Gbajabiamila said he denied.
Reacting to the issue, Elliot described Gbajabiamila as his mentor and political “egbon,” stressing that he learnt much of his political experience under him.
He emphasised that relationships in politics can be strained by errors and misinterpretations, adding that forgiveness remains essential.
“To err is human, to forgive is divine,” Elliot said, while apologising for any perceived offence.
He also extended apologies to influential figures in Surulere, saying he meant no disrespect.
Despite the controversy, Elliot reaffirmed his loyalty to the All Progressives Congress and said he remains focused on delivering development projects to his constituents.
The Lagos Assembly leadership dispute, which triggered internal APC tensions, was later resolved through high-level political intervention.
