The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State, Oyewole Mayowa Solomon, has died.
Solomon reportedly slumped on Friday while attending a party reconciliation meeting in Iyara, the council headquarters, convened by a former Ijumu Local Government Chairman, Funsho Olumoko.
According to TVC, the meeting was part of ongoing efforts to unite APC stakeholders in the area ahead of the 2027 general election when Solomon suddenly collapsed, throwing participants into confusion.
He was rushed to a hospital in Kabba after attempts to revive him at the scene, but died shortly after arrival.
The reconciliation meeting was aimed at resolving lingering internal disputes within the party ahead of 2027. Earlier in August, APC stakeholders in Ijumu had gathered in Iyara to endorse President Bola Tinubu and Governor Usman Ododo for re-election, while calling for unity within the party. That meeting, however, was reportedly marred by disagreements over the local government’s leadership, with Solomon and other officials said to have walked out at the time.
