President Bola Tinubu and First Lady Remi Tinubu joined millions of All Progressives Congress (APC) members across Nigeria on Saturday to participate in the party’s presidential primary election, casting their votes at Ward E in Ikoyi, Lagos State.
The venue was charged with energy as supporters and party faithful thronged the area, with the President’s signature campaign anthem “On Your Mandate” ringing out upon his arrival.
The exercise is part of a nationwide primary holding across 8,809 wards, with close to 14 million registered APC members eligible to vote. The party’s National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda, recently highlighted the party’s growing membership base, noting that nearly half — about 49.6% — are youth between the ages of 18 and 35, making the APC what he described as “the most youthful party in Nigeria.”
Only two aspirants are contesting the APC presidential ticket for the 2027 general elections: incumbent President Bola Tinubu and Osifo Stanley.
