Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu has ordered the Katsina Police Command to beef up security around schools throughout the state.
The directive was delivered by Deputy Inspector-General of Police, Department of Finance and Administration, Sulaiman Abdul, during a two-day operational tour of Katsina, where he reviewed the security setup at selected schools.
Police were instructed to deploy and coordinate patrols to protect schools across the state.
“The command is ordered to intensify patrols, strengthen intelligence gathering and maintain high police visibility around educational institutions to prevent violent crimes and guarantee a safe environment for teaching and learning,” he said.
As part of the tour, the DIG inspected the Police Children School and the Government Girls Technical and Commercial College, both in Charanchi Local Government Area, where he examined perimeter fencing, access control points, security posts and personnel deployment to assess existing safety measures.
He also met separately with school management to get firsthand accounts of their security challenges, urging them to enforce strict access control and report any suspicious activity around their premises to security agencies promptly.
