FIFA President Gianni Infantino has confirmed that United States President Donald Trump will attend the 2026 FIFA World Cup final and join him in presenting the trophy to the tournament winners.
The final match is scheduled to take place on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. According to Infantino, both men will watch the highly anticipated clash together before participating in the trophy presentation ceremony.
Speaking during an interview with Fox & Friends, the FIFA president described his close working relationship with Trump and credited the U.S. leader for supporting FIFA’s efforts to host the World Cup in the United States.
“We will be together with the president enjoying the final and handing the trophy to the winner together,” Infantino said.
He noted that cooperation between FIFA and the U.S. administration has been instrumental in preparations for the expanded 2026 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
The announcement comes months after Trump drew attention at the FIFA Club World Cup final in New Jersey. Following Chelsea’s victory over Paris Saint-Germain, the U.S. president joined the trophy presentation and remained on the podium during the team’s celebrations, creating a widely discussed moment among fans and players.
While FIFA presidents traditionally present the World Cup trophy, there have been several occasions in the tournament’s history when heads of state have also taken part in the ceremony.
The 2026 World Cup final is expected to attract a global audience, with Trump and Infantino set to play a prominent role in the closing celebrations.
