Federal lawmaker representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, James Faleke, has dismissed allegations that he pressured the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to manipulate the outcome of the just-concluded Osun State governorship election.
The lawmaker’s reaction followed a post by Afrobeat singer Davido, who had accused Faleke of mounting pressure on INEC officials to alter results during collation in Osogbo on Saturday.
Davido had written on his X handle, warning Faleke to stop pressuring INEC to change the Osun result and to respect the will of the people, adding that Nigerians did not want Oyetola and AMBO.
Reacting via his verified X handle on Sunday, Faleke denied any involvement in electoral manipulation, insisting he had never rigged an election and had no intention of starting now. He told the singer to face his own troubles while politicians face theirs.
The lawmaker explained that his presence in Osun was strictly to support the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, noting that Davido had similarly campaigned for his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, who ran on the platform of the Accord Party.
He maintained that INEC, as an institution, could not be influenced by him or any other individual, stressing that his role was limited to backing his party’s candidate just as Davido backed his relative’s.
