Daniel Bwala, Special Adviser to President Bola Tinubu on Policy Communication and Media, has criticised the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, accusing him of reacting negatively whenever Nigeria records what he described as progress under the current administration.
In a post shared on his X account, Bwala alleged that the former Anambra State governor consistently expresses dissatisfaction with positive developments in the country despite his ambition to lead Nigeria.
The presidential aide questioned why Obi would criticise policies that, according to him, are aimed at improving governance and national development.
Bwala also accused the former Labour Party presidential candidate of taking inconsistent positions on major national issues. He claimed that before the 2023 general election, Obi supported the removal of fuel subsidy, the establishment of state police, and the unification of the foreign exchange market, but has since adopted a different stance after the Tinubu administration implemented similar policies.
According to Bwala, Obi’s changing positions raise concerns about the clarity of his policy direction.
In his post, Bwala wrote: “I don’t know why anytime Nigeria makes progress, it angers Peter Obi. It is the same Nigeria he is seeking to govern in his wild goose chase.”
He further stated: “Before the 2023 elections, he said he would remove subsidy; we did and now he says he will not. He said he would create state police; we did, he is saying he will not. He said he would unify the foreign exchange; we did and now he is saying he will not. It seems he doesn’t even know what he plans for Nigeria.”
The comments add to the growing political exchanges between members of the Tinubu administration and opposition figures ahead of future electoral contests.
