The third batch of Nigerians fleeing xenophobic violence in South Africa has touched down in Lagos, as the federal government continues efforts to bring citizens home amid weeks of anti-immigration protests in the country.
The evacuees landed aboard an Air Peace aircraft at the cargo terminal of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Ikeja, at about 10:54 a.m. on Tuesday.
The evacuation forms part of an ongoing exercise to repatriate Nigerians caught up in the unrest, which has seen rising hostility toward foreign nationals across several South African cities in recent weeks.
