Veteran Nollywood actress, Patience Ozokwo, popularly known as Mama G, has spoken on why she frequently plays villainous and antagonistic characters in her movies, addressing a question many fans have long asked about her career.
The actress spoke during a live interview with content creator, Carter Efe, on Monday, where she opened up on the reasons behind her signature roles.
The clip from the interview has since gone viral on social media, generating reactions from movie lovers across platforms.
Speaking on why she is often cast as a “wicked woman” or antagonist, Ozokwo said it was not a deliberate career choice but something she believes was divinely assigned to her.
“I think God gave me that niche,” she said.
She explained that she takes her villain roles seriously because of her personal stance against injustice and conflict.
“I hate every ill because I don’t like injustice, war, and rancour. When you give me those roles, I try to bring everything in them,” she said.
The actress also spoke on the moral lessons embedded in the characters she plays, urging viewers to reflect on the consequences of their actions in real life.
“If you are taking part in any of them, you have to be careful and know the end thereof, for the end justifies the means. Know what will happen to you if you live a terrible life, and know what you will gain if you are a good person,” she added.
Ozokwo noted that her portrayal of villainous characters is intentional, designed to highlight the consequences of bad behaviour and pass moral lessons to audiences through storytelling.
