Media entrepreneur and journalist Dele Momodu has cautioned the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, that the All Progressives Congress (APC) will discard him after the 2027 general election, just as it did former Kaduna State governor Nasir El-Rufai.
Momodu issued the warning in an Instagram post on Tuesday, responding to Wike’s claims that members of the APC’s inner circle were plotting to remove him from office after the polls.
The Ovation Magazine publisher argued that the ruling party’s pattern of political disposal would repeat itself with Wike, who is not from Lagos and leads a faction of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
“We warned you ooo… APC is use and dump o; and you’re not even a Lagosian… Ask NASIR EL RUFAI,” Momodu wrote.
His comments followed a video of the APC Governors’ Forum declaring that its backing would go exclusively to the party’s official candidates in 2027.
Speaking after a closed-door meeting, forum chairman and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodinma said the governors had agreed not to support any alliance that could undermine President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid or weaken the APC.
“Each member will not participate in, support, or endorse any alliance or political arrangement capable of undermining the re-election of Mr. President, weakening the APC, or adversely affecting any candidate of the party at all levels,” Uzodinma said, adding that the president had personally sponsored the party’s candidates.
He further stated that the Governors’ Campaign Committee would work exclusively with APC candidates, ruling out any arrangement likely to create “confusion, divided loyalty, or conflicting interests” within the party.
According to Momodu, the governors’ position was a direct rebuke of Wike’s push for a “rainbow coalition” in Rivers State, where his PDP faction sought to partner with the state’s APC chapter for the 2027 election — a move that reportedly put him at odds with several APC governors over his backing of candidates who lost APC primaries.
