Veteran Nollywood actor Taiwo Hassan, widely recognized by his stage name Ogogo, has broken his silence on the life-threatening health crisis that brought him to the brink of death a severe ulcer that left him unable to eat for seven months.
Speaking in a candid interview with Feel Right News TV, the beloved actor recounted how the ordeal began unexpectedly on a movie set, where he suddenly became too weak to continue filming. It was fellow actress Remi Surutu who first raised the alarm, recognizing his symptoms and urging him to seek medical attention.
Heeding her advice, Ogogo visited a hospital the following day, where doctors confirmed what Surutu had suspected he was battling a serious ulcer.
What followed was a grueling seven-month nightmare. Every attempt to eat ended the same way: vomiting blood. For nearly the better part of a year, his body rejected food entirely, pushing him dangerously close to death.
In his own words, the actor described the experience: “While I was on a movie set, I felt very weak, and I couldn’t continue with the filmmaking, so I decided to take a break. It was actress Remi Surutu that came to me and told me that I was having an ulcer due to the kind of symptoms I complained about. On the next day, I went to the hospital to conduct a medical check-up, and it was discovered that I actually had an ulcer. I couldn’t eat for 7 months, and anytime I tried to eat, I would vomit the food with blood. It was God that healed me and got me out of the situation, and that’s why I will always thank God.”
Now on the other side of recovery, Ogogo credits his survival entirely to divine intervention, and says gratitude to God has become a permanent part of his daily life.
