Afolabi Kazeem Micheal, known as ‘KayCee Luxury’, was simply another Lagos big boy whose wealth could only be measured by his packed garage of cars, shimmering jewellery and Snapchat reels of trips to Paris, Milan, London and a whole lots. A lifestyle that gathered countless admirers across TikTok and Instagram where many sees him as a model because of his deep pocket and ability to spend lavishly. Then the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) unveiled him before the world, allegedly linking him with the seizure of 184.5kg of cocaine, described as the largest cocaine bust from a courier company in its history.
According to NDLEA Chairman Buba Marwa, the arrest followed intelligence that KayCee Luxury was preparing to flee to Paris. He was apprehended on August 13 at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos, allegedly carrying €7,750, £2,800, N100,000 and expensive jewellery. The NDLEA also nabbed Lawal Kehinde, an employee of a logistics company allegedly connected to the consignment. The agency stated that Nigeria was being used as a transit hub for illicit drugs destined for the UK, Europe and Asia, describing the celebrity jeweller as the “Nigerian arrowhead” of the cartel operation. The arrest has now put his lifestyle under scrutiny, particularly his wealth, luxury possessions and constant hobnobbing with celebrities and politicians.
A source revealed that KayCee was notorious for flaunting wealth, spending lavishly on alcohol, shutting down clubs and using his funds to take people’s girlfriends. “He balls at clubs from Monday to Monday all year long. He has used his wealth to snatch girlfriends of many boys on the island, brazingly and without remorse. He has also intimidated many, making those working for money seem like they don’t know what they are doing. He acts rudely, owing to the funds with him, but all this led to his arrest as his source of wealth was dug up and found to be funded by drug peddling.” The source added.
Despite the amount of wealth and those who walk with him, meeting his waterloo might signify he has met the end of the road. His case is now being monitored by international communities and he may not recover from the blow to his image. We also gathered that friends, associates who always hangs out with him and those politicians and celebrities he always chills with have kept their distance in a bid not to be tainted by his current predicament. Everyone has deserted him and he is currently being left in the cold to face his own fate.
