The Anambra State Executive Council has approved the establishment of the Anambra Development and Investment Corporation (ADIC) with an authorised capital base of N200 billion, while also releasing N315.46 million to restore electricity in parts of Ihiala Local Government Area.
Speaking after the council meeting, the Commissioner for Information and Value Reformation, Dr. Law Mefor, said the state government would provide 30 per cent of the corporation’s capital and transfer selected strategic state assets to ADIC.
He explained that the corporation would serve as a major platform for attracting private investment and mobilising development financing through public-private partnerships.
“ADIC will operate as a highly attractive investment platform for individuals and corporate organisations seeking opportunities in Anambra State,” Mefor said.
The council also approved the launch of Code Anambra Talents Mastery Cohort 2 under the Solution Innovation District (SID), following what it described as the success of the first cohort.
According to Mefor, the programme is designed to develop technology talent and prepare young people for growing global opportunities in digital skills and innovation.
SID is the Soludo administration’s technology hub established to train, mentor and support innovators, startups and entrepreneurs in developing solutions that can drive the state’s economic and technological growth.
The commissioner further said the government had reaffirmed the state of emergency on the environment due to increasing environmental degradation across the state.
As part of the response, a statewide environmental sanitation exercise will be held on Saturday, July 4, 2026, from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., during which businesses and communities are expected to observe a temporary restriction of movement.
He added that the exercise would signal the beginning of a statewide desilting and waste evacuation campaign aimed at reducing flooding.
Meanwhile, the council approved N315,460,777.41 for the restoration of electricity to parts of Uli community and the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, Chinweoke Mbadinuju Campus, Uli.
