Bandits operating in Katsina State have reportedly killed one of more than 100 people abducted in the state and allegedly sent his severed head to the Shadadi Emirate.
The development was disclosed on Friday by Katsina-based commentator Bakatsine in a post on X.
According to the commentator, the victim was among the residents being held by the bandits before he was reportedly killed. His severed head was then allegedly taken to the Shadadi Emirate.
Bakatsine described the incident as disturbing and called for urgent action to secure the release of other victims still in captivity.
The identity of the deceased and further details about his abduction were not immediately made public. The report could also not be independently verified at the time of filing.
Meanwhile, residents of a community in Talata Mafara Local Government Area of Zamfara State are reportedly facing another threat from terrorists.
The terrorists allegedly invaded an open market and gave residents seven days to provide ₦50 million, 50 cattle and 50 sheep.
Residents said the latest demand was linked to repeated attacks in the area, accusing the government and security agencies of failing to adequately protect their communities.
According to the residents, terrorists have previously invaded their farmlands and rustled livestock without facing what they described as a strong response from security forces.
One resident said the attackers had become increasingly bold because previous incidents had not resulted in a decisive security response.
The latest ultimatum has reportedly increased fear among residents, who are calling for urgent government intervention and stronger security measures to prevent further attacks and protect those still living in affected communities.
