Former Bauchi State Deputy Governor, Audu Sule Katagum, has died at 69.
Katagum served as deputy governor from 2018 to 2019 under then-Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar. He passed away in the early hours of Saturday.
His death was announced by Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar, digital and creative media aide to the former governor.
“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Arch. Audu Sule Katagum, Wazirin Katagum and former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State,” Lukman said, adding that the deceased lived a life of dedicated service to his community, Bauchi State, and the nation. Funeral arrangements, he said, would be announced later.
Beyond politics, Katagum held the traditional title of Wazirin Katagum and had earlier served as Chief of Staff at the Bauchi State Government House before his appointment as deputy governor.
He was the son of the late Alhaji Sule Katagum — the first chairman of Nigeria’s Federal Public Service Commission and a former holder of the same Wazirin Katagum title.
He is survived by his wife, children, and other family members.
His passing has been described as a significant loss to the Katagum Emirate and Bauchi State, where he was widely respected for his contributions to public service and community development.
