The Nigeria Police Force (NPF) has arrested former Imo State Governor and serving senator, Rochas Okorocha, in Abuja over allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation.
The Imo State Police Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Aniete Iniedu, confirmed the arrest to Channels Television on Monday night.
Okorocha was granted bail after about an hour of interrogation. Iniedu said the former governor has been directed to report to the Force Headquarters on Tuesday for further questioning as investigations continue.
The arrest reportedly followed Okorocha’s failure to respond to earlier police invitations. He was first invited to the Force Headquarters on September 2, but the appointment was moved to September 8 at his lawyers’ request. He reportedly did not show up on the new date.
