Africa’s richest man, Aliko Dangote, has been listed among the world’s most influential figures in the 2026 TIME100, highlighting his continued impact on global business and development.
The list, published on April 15 by Time Magazine, celebrates individuals shaping the future through leadership, innovation, and influence across various sectors.
Dangote joins a high-profile group of global leaders, including U.S. President Donald Trump, Chinese President Xi Jinping, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney, and Pope Leo XIV. Tech leaders such as Sundar Pichai and Neal Mohan are also featured.
This marks Dangote’s second inclusion on the TIME100 list after his first recognition in 2014, underlining his enduring global relevance. He is the only Nigerian on the 2026 list and is recognised in the “Titans” category, which honours influential figures in business and innovation.
Others in the category include Reid Wiseman, philanthropists Michael Dell and Susan Dell, as well as fashion icon Ralph Lauren.
In the “Pioneers” category, scientists such as Kiran Musunuru and Rebecca Ahrens-Nicklas were recognised for breakthroughs in genetic therapy, alongside Aaron Williams for advancements in heart transplant readiness.
The list also honours figures in entertainment, including Ranbir Kapoor, Dakota Johnson, and Kate Hudson.
As founder of the Dangote Group, Dangote has driven large-scale industrial growth across Africa, with investments spanning cement, agriculture, food production, and energy. His efforts have contributed to reducing import dependence while boosting job creation.
Beyond his business achievements, Dangote’s philanthropic work through the Aliko Dangote Foundation continues to support initiatives in healthcare, education, and economic empowerment across the continent.
The 2026 TIME100 list reflects increasing global recognition of African influence, with Dangote standing out as a symbol of innovation, enterprise, and long-term development.
