Lagos State House of Assembly member, Desmond Elliot, has apologised to Femi Gbajabiamila, Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, following a disagreement linked to the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election in Lagos.
Elliot was seen in a video kneeling before Gbajabiamila while asking for forgiveness and expressing his desire to reconcile with the APC leadership in Lagos.
In the video, the lawmaker apologised for his actions and admitted that he had no excuse for his conduct. Gbajabiamila subsequently asked him to stand up.
The development comes months after the APC primary election for Surulere Constituency I, where Elliot withdrew from the exercise, alleging intimidation and political pressure against his supporters.
He later rejected the outcome of the primary and indicated that he would appeal the process through the party’s internal mechanisms.
However, Elliot eventually lost the APC ticket to Barakat Odunuga-Bakare, who was widely reported to have the backing of Gbajabiamila.
Odunuga-Bakare secured 11,385 votes in the primary, while Elliot recorded 270 votes.
The latest apology appears to signal an attempt by Elliot to resolve the disagreement and rebuild his relationship with the APC leadership in Lagos.
