There was drama in the Badariya area of Birnin Kebbi, the capital of Birnin Kebbi, after operatives of the Hisbah Board arrested a man allegedly discovered hiding inside a “Ghana Must Go” bag at the home of a married woman.
The Director of Sharia at the board, Sirajo Kamba, confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Tuesday in Birnin Kebbi.
According to him, the arrest followed a tip-off from residents of the area who reportedly noticed the man entering the woman’s house late at night, raising suspicion of a possible improper relationship.
Kamba said the report was received around 12:15 a.m. on Monday, May 18, prompting officers to be deployed to the scene for investigation.
He explained that when officers arrived, they requested permission to search the house, but the woman initially denied that anyone was inside.
However, she later allowed the search, during which the man was allegedly found concealed inside a “Ghana Must Go” bag.
Following the discovery, Kamba said further questioning reportedly revealed that the man and the married woman were involved in a romantic relationship.
He added that both suspects allegedly admitted to the allegation during interrogation and would be arraigned in court under Islamic law.
The identities of the suspects have not yet been disclosed, and authorities did not give a timeline for their court appearance.
The incident has sparked reactions among residents, many of whom described the discovery as shocking.
The development comes shortly after a similar case reported by the Kano State Hisbah Board involving arrests over alleged immoral conduct.
