The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has strengthened preventive health measures across all international airports in Nigeria following renewed concerns over Ebola Virus Disease in parts of Central Africa.
FAAN said the move is part of coordinated efforts with Port Health Services and the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC) to boost surveillance and monitoring of incoming passengers, especially those arriving from high-risk countries.
In a statement issued by the Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Mr. Henry Agbebire, the agency confirmed that enhanced screening procedures are now in place at airport entry points.
According to FAAN, travellers are being checked for symptoms consistent with Ebola Virus Disease, with strict protocols in place for any suspected case.
The agency added that any individual showing symptoms would be immediately isolated and subjected to secondary medical evaluation in line with national and international health guidelines.
It further stated that emergency response systems have been reinforced, staff sensitisation intensified, and inter-agency coordination improved to ensure rapid response if needed.
FAAN also reassured the public that no confirmed case of Ebola has been recorded in Nigeria, urging passengers to remain calm and comply fully with health screening procedures while promptly reporting any symptoms to health officials.
