The Administrative and Finance Committee of the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has expressed full confidence in the leadership of the Nigeria National Office under Head of National Office, Dr. Amos Dangut.
The endorsement was reached at the Committee’s 240th meeting held in Ibadan, Oyo State, following a review of ongoing operations, financial management, and administrative performance.
In a statement issued by WAEC’s Public Affairs Department and signed by Acting Head of Public Affairs, Moyosola F. Adesina, the Committee said it was satisfied with the management’s handling of operations, including its engagement with staff unions and the smooth conduct of examinations nationwide.
The vote of confidence comes at a time WAEC is engaging with staff unions over workplace-related issues while simultaneously overseeing the 2026 West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) across Nigeria.
The Committee, WAEC’s highest advisory body on administrative and financial matters in Nigeria, commended the leadership team for what it described as exemplary performance, operational efficiency, and strong institutional discipline.
It further noted that the ongoing 2026 WASSCE for School Candidates had continued without disruption, despite recent union-related concerns, crediting the management’s approach for maintaining stability.
After reviewing the Council’s operations, the Committee stated that WAEC’s management has demonstrated professionalism, strategic focus, and commitment to the Council’s core values.
It reaffirmed its support for the current leadership and expressed confidence in its ability to sustain WAEC’s mandate and uphold examination integrity across the region.
The Committee also cautioned against any actions capable of undermining WAEC’s institutional reputation or operational credibility, urging continued cooperation among stakeholders.
WAEC management, in response, assured candidates, parents, state education authorities, and the public that operations nationwide remain stable and on course.
It reiterated its commitment to transparency, staff welfare, and maintaining a peaceful working environment while continuing constructive engagement with staff unions.
