Mohammed Bello El-Rufai, a member of the House of Representatives representing Kaduna North Federal Constituency, has officially resigned from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
Bello El-Rufai, who is the son of former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, announced his defection in a statement released on Thursday.
The lawmaker was joined by another federal legislator representing Kudan/Makarfi Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, who also left the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to become a member of the ADC.
The defections are part of the growing political shifts currently taking place across the country ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a related development, Suleiman Richifa, the lawmaker representing Soba Federal Constituency in Kaduna State, also dumped the PDP for the ADC.
Meanwhile, Abdulhakeem Ado from Kano State resigned from the ADC and moved to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
The latest wave of defections reflects the ongoing political restructuring and coalition discussions among opposition parties and lawmakers as preparations for the next election cycle gather momentum.
