Regarded as the most generous Governor in Oyo State; Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala remains a political colossus whose absence would be greatly felt in Oyo state for his developmental strides. Regarded as a man of the people with grass-root political ties, the political heavyweight and leader of All Progressive Congress APC in Oyo state’s death is still unbelievable to those close to him. Before his demise, he was looking hale and hearty in high spirits after his return from a trip to Abuja on Tuesday, where he went to celebrate with former House of Representative Majority leader, Mulikat Akande-Adeola on her birthday.
According to close sources, Akala while alive chased his dreams with a daring spirit as he had many things he wanted to achieve before death came knocking. Close source averred that; Akala wanted to make sure under his leadership, his party the APC regains the Oyo Guber seat from the ruling People’s Democratic Party PDP. “One of his dreams is to ensure the APC highjack power from the ruling party at the next election in 2023. He has been attending several meetings with stakeholders in a bid to actualize his dreams but death is the ultimate.’
Another source disclosed that; he is currently planning for his first wife’s Pastor Mrs. Florence Alao-Akala 70th birthday which is billed to hold on the 15th of January. “He has mobilized all vendors and sent invites to top guests and dignitaries who are gearing up to attend. He was going to surprise her on her birthday. He could not throw his preferred 70th birthday due to Covid but he wanted to use his wife’s birthday to make up for it. Unfortunately, he did not live to witness that day. It’s so sad and painful.”
Remains of the Ogbomosho-born ex-cop have been deposited at the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology’s morgue to ensure proper burial arrangement by family members and Oyo state at large.
