When he came in as Governor of Zamfara in 2023, Governor Dauda Lawal met a state grappling for air, partly surviving in a state of comatose. But one thing he told his supporters and the people of the state during his campaign was that he was coming to rescue the state from the shackles of mediocrity, put it on the map, and ensure it became an enviable state in the Northwest. Naysayers thought he was making those promises just to get votes, but Dauda Lawal, who knows his plans and how to execute them, didn’t flinch.
As soon as he was sworn in, he went straight into action and started the rebuilding process. The state that could barely boast of a single infrastructure has now suddenly turned into a fresh gust of summer wind, with gigantic projects littered across the state. From the health sector, road construction, human development, agriculture and livestock development, educational development, security of lives and properties, foreign direct investment and job creation, among others, Zamfara has continued to rise under his watch, and he is not relenting until he fulfils all his campaign promises.
Yesterday, the state under his watch witnessed a resounding development that will affect the state’s trajectory and create economic prosperity when it launched its inaugural bi-weekly commercial passenger flight from Abuja to Gusau Cargo Airport with XeJet. What this means is that the state will be closer to others in terms of investment, and business dealings will remain seamless without bottlenecks.
As the state celebrates its 30th year of existence today, the once struggling state, which under the governor has witnessed a total turnaround, is celebrating a state that in over three years has started to fly instead of crawling. All thanks to Governor Lawal, who didn’t play the blame game but rather quietly rebuilt the state from the shackles of underdevelopment to a more developed state that is the envy of others.
