The organisers of the Grassroot Achievers Award (GAA) have announced that the 2026 edition of the prestigious recognition ceremony will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026, bringing together change-makers, community champions, and impact-driven individuals whose contributions at the grassroots level have too often gone unacknowledged.
Themed around recognition, appreciation, and motivation, the three pillars boldly emblazoned on the award’s identity, the event promises to be an unforgettable evening that puts the spotlight firmly on people building Nigeria and Africa from the ground up.
The Grassroot Achievers Award was founded on a simple but powerful conviction that extraordinary impact does not always come with a title, corner office, or national headline. Sometimes, it comes in the form of a teacher who stayed, a youth leader who showed up, and a community builder who refused to give up.
While fielding questions from members of the media, Ayo Sogbuyi, a veteran publisher and Executive Producer of the Grassroot Achievers Award, said the forthcoming ceremony reflects a deepened commitment to spotlighting achievements that society often overlooks.
“We live in a world that celebrates the loudest and the most visible,” Sogbuyi posited. “But the Grassroot Achievers Award exists to remind us that the true architects of progress are often those working quietly in places the cameras rarely go. On October 25th, we are bringing those cameras to them, with a view to giving them the standing ovation they truly deserve.” He maintained.
The organizers describe the occasion as a necessary act of storytelling, and Seunmanuel Faleye, the Media Director, emphasized that every edition of this award is a story that needs to be told. These are real people with real impact; in their streets, schools, markets, wards… What we do on the night transcends just handing out plaques. We validate achievements. We say to these individuals, your sacrifice was seen, effort counted, and the community is better because you existed in it.” The organizing team disclosed.
The ceremony, which draws nominees from diverse sectors including education, healthcare, entrepreneurship, community development, youth empowerment, and the arts, is expected to attract a distinguished gathering of public figures, corporate stakeholders, civil society leaders, and members of the press.
Nomination and sponsorship inquiries are currently open, with organisers urging individuals and organisations to rally behind the movement that is redefining what it means to be celebrated in Nigeria.
The Grassroot Achievers Award ceremony will be held on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Further details on the venue, nominees, and program will be announced in the coming weeks.
