The National Chairman of the Peoples Redemption Party (PRP), Dr. Hakeem Baba-Ahmed, has launched a sharp attack on President Bola Tinubu’s administration, accusing it of rolling out major economic policies without adequate planning while failing to address Nigeria’s most critical challenges.
Speaking on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Friday, Baba-Ahmed said the Federal Government rushed into removing the fuel subsidy without properly studying its potential consequences — including the risks, opportunities and likely impact on ordinary Nigerians.
He argued that a policy of such magnitude demanded thorough assessment and protective measures before implementation, adding that citizens were left unprepared for the economic hardship that followed.
The former presidential adviser also questioned the president’s overall performance, saying Tinubu came to power with strong credentials and clear ambition but had failed to deliver on the country’s most pressing problems — insecurity, the rising cost of living and corruption.
“The President came to power with fairly good credentials. You would think a man who is so ambitious and who said, ‘It’s my time,’ would come to power and tackle some of the most fundamental problems of this country — insecurity, cost of living and corruption. He did none of those things. Now we’re here. Nigeria is making so much money, and yet poverty levels are rising, insecurity is rising and corruption is rising,” he said.
