The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has released the final list of presidential candidates and their running mates for the January 2027 general elections.
The list, signed by INEC Secretary Rose Oriaran-Anthony, was released in Abuja on Saturday and covers 18 political parties. Of the 18 presidential candidates, 16 are men and two are women.
Topping the list is incumbent President Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress (APC), running with Vice-President Kashim Shettima. He faces former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), paired with Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, and former Anambra State Governor Peter Obi of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), running alongside Musa Mohammed Rabiu Kwankwaso.
Also in the race are Social Democratic Party candidate Adewole Ebenezer Adebayo, Allied Peoples Movement’s Oluseyi Abiodun Makinde, Peoples Redemption Party’s Donald Duke, Labour Party’s Sunday Chibuzo Okereke, and African Action Congress’s Omoyele Sowore.
Other male candidates on the ballot are Sandy Ojang Onor (PDP), Rufai Adekunle Omo-Aje (Action Alliance), Aliyu Abbas-Bin (Action Democratic Party), Kabiru Yusuf (Allied Peoples Party) and Sunday Adenuga (Boot Party), alongside Moses Olusoji Adebisi (Democratic Leadership Alliance), Daniel Daberechukwu Nwanyanwu (Zenith Labour Party) and Peter Ada Agada (Young Progressive Party).
The two female presidential candidates are Ada Elizabeth Fredrick Okwori of the National Democratic Party and Nkem Esther Okereke of the National Rescue Movement.
INEC’s list also features 14 male and four female vice-presidential candidates. The women are Peace Egobia Ofordile (APP), Nafisat Usaku Abubakar (DLA), Hajja Bintu Konto (LP) and Patience Ndidi Key (YPP).
