The Kaduna State Police Command has successfully rescued three kidnap victims who spent more than 40 days in captivity and arrested five individuals suspected of aiding the kidnappers.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, announced the development in a statement issued on Saturday.
According to Hassan, the rescue followed a well-coordinated operation carried out by a joint security team comprising personnel from Fushin Kada and officers attached to the Hunkuyi Divisional Police Headquarters.
He explained that the operation was made possible through sustained intelligence gathering, strategic surveillance, and collaborative security efforts that enabled operatives to trace the kidnappers to a suspected hideout.
Hassan said the criminals fled the location immediately they noticed the approach of security personnel, abandoning the victims behind.
“Upon sighting the advancing security personnel, the bandits escaped from the area, leaving the victims behind. The victims were rescued unharmed during the operation,” he stated.
The rescued victims were identified as Ekechikwu Omale, Ummi Salisu, both from Kudan Local Government Area of Kaduna State, and Pastor Daniel Tanko Bawa from Tufa Village in neighbouring Niger State.
Following their rescue, the victims were taken to a police medical facility where they received medical attention and were later reunited with their families.
The police spokesperson further disclosed that five suspected informants were apprehended during the investigation.
Preliminary findings revealed that the suspects allegedly supplied information and logistical support to the kidnappers, helping them carry out their criminal activities.
“The suspects admitted their involvement during interrogation,” Hassan added.
Reacting to the successful operation, the Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, CP Rabiu Muhammad, praised the professionalism, commitment, and cooperation among the security agencies involved.
He reaffirmed the command’s resolve to intensify efforts against kidnapping and other violent crimes across the state.
Muhammad also called on residents to continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies, stressing that community support remains essential in the fight against criminality.
The police commissioner assured that investigations were ongoing to track down other members of the kidnapping network and ensure that everyone connected to the crime is brought to justice.
